I’m not usually a big fan of Dolce&Gabbana, but I have to admit I loved the fall collection they’ve shown in Milan this year. I’m just not able to dislike something Russian inspired when it comes to clothes.
Sure, the Russian themed collection has been done before but it never gets old for me. And this time it was mixed in with a bit of opulent Italian widow.
I’m just crazy about the ultra feminine silhouettes and simple cuts that oppose the wonderfully decadent fabrics they used to make them: all the sheer lace, heavy gold embroidery, rich tapestry inserts and the crazy cupid/angels and flowers prints in bright colors on a black background.
A huge highlight of the Dolce&Gabbana show was the styling – the jewelry they brought to the runway were insane in the best way possible: over the top perfection. All those amazing long chandelier earrings, the royal tiaras covered in flowers, pearls, rhinestones and gold and the black sunglasses with colorful flower rims give me all kind of ideas.
