I wanted to post these amazing photos for a long time now, but I always had another article ready before this so here I am, one month later, sharing with you issue 8 of Love magazine featuring the Crawley sisters aka the young ladies of hit show - Downton Abbey - you might remember me raving about it here!
Apparently we have to thank Mark Jacobs for this treat - Love's editor, Katie Grand, admits she wasn't into the show initially, but she gave it a chance because Mark kept on mentioning it and she quickly got addicted and ended up watching it three times over.
The fall/winter issue of the magazine has 4 alternative covers - one for each of Lord Grantham's three daughters: Laura Carmichael (Lady Edith), Michelle Dockery (Lady Mary) and Jessica Brown Findlay (Lady Sybil) and a forth featuring the ridiculously handsome Rob James-Collier (Thomas - the footman).
I have a huge crush on Rob James-Collier! I mean, look at his face! Don't even get me started on the eyes!
But don't expect the cover editorial to be all about the Downton Abbey's characters, in fact there's no trace of them to be found in it!
The famed Crawley sisters are metamorphosed into decadent Gothic fairies that could star in a Tim Burton movie right out of the covers with their grandiose veiled wigs and dramatic makeup. The editorial titled "Dance with a Stranger" and the covers themed "A Costume Drama" were styled by Grant herself and shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott.
I think the photos are stunning - the actresses play a wonderful surrealist fantasy while wearing couture (Alexander McQueen and Vivienne Westwood).
What do you think? Do you find this inspiring or just plain weird? Are you a fan of Downton Abbey?
