A single man

Beautiful things really get to me!

This first 10 minutes of this movie kind of killed me! I’ve probably seen better movies this year but “A single man” was the one that still haunts me. It’s the kind of movie that let’s you in a state of not knowing what to do with yourself.

You know when, sometimes, you see something or someone so beautiful that it almost hurts (…like physically) – oh, well that’s "A single man" to me.

I’ve read that some people think Tom Ford went too far with the art direction. I personally think he did a great job, this movie shows his unique vision, knowledge and appreciation for beauty and fashion and "A single man" is one of the prettiest movies I’ve seen in my life.

Usually film makers relay more on the actors and the story to show feelings while Tom Ford also involves the scenery, the way a person sees the world when actually feeling something, the way the colors change when affected by emotions (which actually happens in real life, at least to me:))).

The manner this movie is filmed, the editing, the way colors fade into subtle shades of grey or the other way around, the cinematography, the casting and performances are perfect. Every single frame is esthetically breathtaking, almost overwhelmingly beautiful and incredibly poetic. Visually and musically, A single man is stunning.
“A few times in my life I've had moments of absolute clarity, when for a few brief seconds the silence drowns out the noise and I can feel rather than think, and things seem so sharp and the world seems so fresh. I can never make these moments last. I cling to them, but like everything, they fade.” (George Falconer in A Single Man)
And, let me tell you, I’ve never seen Colin Firth looking so handsome, stylish and sharp, he was amazing, the quiet way he plays this role is just incredible. I’m actually very surprised this movie received only one Oscar nomination in 2010 (thank God for "The King’s Speech")

Stay tuned as I also prepared four separate articles about Nicholas Hoult, Jon Kortajarena, Julieen Moore and Colin Firth himself and their roles in this amazing movie (that's how obsessed I am!!!)
